If you haven’t already- Meet ANNA

Anna is our very Knowledgeable Naturopath!

Here are 10 things to get to know Anna.

  1. What inspired you to get into this industry?

I have always been in awe of the human body and have had a tremendous respect for nature and how we have evolved within it. It wasn’t until I had children of my own that I started to question Western medicine and turned to herbal medicine and other natural therapies to help support their health. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I was undertaking a four year University degree in Health Science, focused on Naturopathy.

  1. How do you like to relax?

Reading, yoga, soaking in an Epsom salt bath, or sweating it out in a sauna. I also like walking – it can be done anywhere, it’s free and gets you out into the fresh air and sunlight!  Not only does it allow you the opportunity to process your thoughts and use up any pent up adrenaline, it increases your heartrate and stimulates circulation which has you thinking better.

  1. What is your favourite Herb & Why?

I love Globe artichoke.  I remember Mum cooking artichokes when they were in season and what I liked about this food was the unique bitter sweet taste it left in my mouth.  When studying I was amazed to find that it was actually a medicinal plant. Talk about “let food be your medicine”.  This plant has many therapeutic actions to benefit digestion; it improves overall digestion, bloating, flatulence, constipation, IBS, and more.  It also supports and cleanses the liver … and in today’s world everyone’s liver can do with a little help.  It also has a cool botanical name, Cynara!

  1. Do you have a special focus/specialisation? Is there a reason why you have this focus?

I do enjoy working with hormonal issues in both men and women.  Hormonal imbalances can impact us in so many ways including weight, skin, mood, menstruation and fertility, to name a few.  All successes are celebrated but it’s very rewarding to help couples achieve a healthy pregnancy and ultimately a healthy baby.

  1. Why did you choose to become a Naturopath?

Naturopathy draws on a few different methods of healing such as herbal medicine and clinical nutrition which have been around for as long as the human race.  Naturopathy takes into consideration the person as a whole – mind, body and spirit.  It also aims to get to the root of the problem and treatment is gentle but effective.

  1. What is your favourite fruit or veg & why?

Zucchini – it’s nutritious and when finely grated I can sneak it into almost any dish without my kids knowing.

  1. If you had a superpower, what would you like it to be?

To teleport from one place to another with just a snap of my fingers … I hate to sit in traffic.

  1. Best advice on keeping your body cleansed?

Drink lots of clean, filtered water throughout the day.  Add a squeeze of lemon to your water and this will increase the alkalising effect to the body.

  1. Why do you love Naturopathy?

I’ve always loved doing jigsaw puzzles and as a Naturopath, one of the biggest challenges can be analysing all the information gathered to form a better picture of what is causing the dis-ease in the individual.  Naturopathy also allows me the opportunity to teach individuals how to listen to their bodies and achieve optimal health.

  1. What is your #1 health tip?

Laugh, sing and dance like no-one is watching, preferably in the sunlight.   En-joy Life.
